| Redeemer's Staff
James R. Byork Senior Pastor
James Byork celebrated 35 years in the pastoral ministry on July 12, 2005. He came to Redeemer in January, 1999 after serving 17 years as Senior Pastor at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Hickory, North Carolina. Pastor Byork describes Redeemer as "a church made up of spiritually-minded, committed people." He reflects, "I chose to come to Redeemer because I clearly saw God's presence within the people through their incredible commitment to servanthood and study of God's Word."
Matthew Bean Assistant Pastor

Matthew Bean has served as Redeemer's Assistant Pastor since his ordination on July 2, 2000. "Redeemer has been proven to be a wonderful place to serve," Pastor Bean recalls. "There is a growing sense of anticipation and enthusiasm among Redeemer's members and visitors
a spirit of celebration."
Charessa Koontz Family Life Minister

Charessa joined the Redeemer staff after being installed in June of 2004. Charessa and her husband, Eric, moved to Richmond from Dallas, Texas, where she had been serving as the Director of Christian Education at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. 
Kathy Bakken joined Redeemer's preschool program in 1994. After years of experience teaching in Redeemer's 3 and 4-year old program, as well as Child Care and Summer Camp programs, Kathy was promoted to Assistant Director in 2005, and then to Director in 2007. "I love working with our families and our staff," Kathy reflects, "especially watching these children grow through their early years. It's wonderful to watch them learn about God, about themselves, and about other people."
Andrew joined Redeemer's staff in 2007 as the director of SimpleTruth, Redeemer's praise team & worship band. In addition, Andrew serves as the Director of Training for Richmond Shakespeare and works as an independent recording artist. Andrew also has experience working as a youth minister and music leader at Christ Church Episcopal, as well as teaching theater at VCU and at the Center for the Arts at Henrico High School. "I am honored to lead SimpleTruth," Andrew comments. "My personal mission is to connect people to God through the arts, and I am thrilled to be a part of Redeemer's thriving and Spirit-filled music ministry."
Cheryl joined Redeemer's staff in 2006, bringing a unique blend of professional expertise and personal interests to Redeemer's music program. With a bachelor's degree in piano from Pacific Union College and a master's degree in organ/church music from Northwestern University, Cheryl desires to use her God-given musical talents to share her love of God, her love for people, and her love for music.
Marion Baddorf Business Manager

Marion Baddorf came to Redeemer in 1981 as a full-time secretary and has grown into the position of Business Manager, overseeing the financial and property operations. Redeemer is a place of growth, Marion explains. Every day provides a wealth of opportunities and challenges to use my God-given abilities and to make a difference in peoples lives.
Meredith Eades Secretary
Meredith moved to Richmond in 1999, was married to her husband, David, in 2004, and joined Redeemer's staff in 2007. With both parents serving as pastors of a local congregation, and with her experience as a worship leader, Meredith brings a high degree of both personal and professional expertise to Redeemer's staff. | Passing on The Faith TODAY'S BIBLE READINGS:
