At Redeemer, we are committed to helping people live out their “Sunday-morning faith” from Monday through Saturday. Passing On The Faith recognizes the many obstacles standing in the way of faith development, particularly when it comes to sharing our faith with other people. Busy schedules, conflicting priorities, the fear of failure, and feelings of inadequacy (just to name a few!) all prevent us from sharing our faith—whether it be praying with our spouse or our family, inviting a friend or co-worker to church, talking to a neighbor about Jesus, or sharing God’s forgiveness with someone who has hurt us. Redeemer regularly offers classes, seminars, resources, small groups, and sermon series dedicated to equipping people to live in God’s truth and forgiveness as the natural expression of their relationship with Christ. How does "Passing on the Faith" fit into Redeemer Lutheran Church's Mission Statement? To truly be about "Passing on the Faith": one must be centered around the central purpose of teaching and reaching people with Christ message, creating a church centered on family unity where they can grow, and giving members the opportunity to grow in education and skills to continue the cycle of "Passing on the Faith." Our mission statement has always been about "Passing on the Faith." We are just going to be more intentional about it by providing the training and opportunities to do it and by centering ourselves on it! Redeemer Lutheran Church’s Mission Statement:
Redeemer's mission is reaching people for Jesus, embracing them in a Christ-centered community, and nurturing them in God's Word to be faithful disciples. In fact scripture teaches us to "Pass on the Faith" in both the Old and New Testament and solidify both the purpose of our BOD Goal and Mission Statement: "We will not hide them from our children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands..." (Psalm 78:4-8) How Do I Fit Into "Passing on the Faith?" What can I do?
These are great questions and we have the answers! Looking at the three areas again, here are ways that you can begin to "Pass on the Faith." Education: Get involved in Sunday School classes, small groups, etc. to continue to learn about how to pass on the faith! Congregation: Be a part of the Ablaze effort by making a personal yearly commitment to tell at least 3 other people about Christ. Family Life: Join a family seminar or class designed to help members gain knowledge and skills about how to grow as a healthy and spiritually grounded family! Finally, we are always looking for ways for Redeemer to continue its efforts for "Passing on the Faith." If you are interested in these efforts and being a part of this ministry team, please let us know! |
